“The world is so crazy right now,” we say.

We said the same thing in the 60s and the 70s, the 80s and the 90s. And truthfully, human beings have probably been saying some version of it for centuries.

When we say the world, we don’t mean ourselves. We mean the people out there who are apart from us and not harmonious with us. They are up to antics. There is lying, deceit, hatred and violence.

In the 60’s I saw a Broadway play called Purlie Victorious. One of the songs that made a deep impression on me WAS, “The World is Coming to a Start.” Lyrics are by Peter Udell.

“Did you ever get the feeling when you read the papers

The world is caving in?

That the animal part of the human heart is finally gonna win?

Well, it just may be that what you see

Are the growing pains of liberty;

And the world ain’t coming to an end my friend.

The world is coming to a start.”

But here’s the thing. The world is not going to change if you and I don’t change the way we look at it. What we focus on grows. Right?

The Sun is in Gemini for this Full Moon. Gemini is ruled by Mercury. The Tarot Key assigned to Mercury is Key 1, The Magician. The BOTA Tarot shows the Magician with closed eyes, and the principle of attention is assigned to it.

That feature intrigues me. How can we be paying attention if our eyes are closed? The Magician with closed eyes urges us not to pay attention to the external world and to pay attention to what we want to manifest. To bring about a new beginning, pay attention to fresh ideas.

Don’t look at what you don’t want. You don’t want to be homeless? Don’t see yourself on the street. You don’t want to be sick? Don’t focus on sickness. You don’t want the world to be crazy? Don’t look at the things about the world that make you crazy with despair.

The stuff you see in the world today is the stuff that is finished and dead. The beginnings of these shenanigans are lost in the midst of time. When we close our eyes, we are not blinded. We focus on a new vision. We look at what we want. There is power that is greater than us that knows our hearts’ desires and knows how to bring it. That power knows the components of our desire, the who, what, where and when of our story.

Ask, and you shall receive. Ask and believe. If we focus on our worries and troubles, we are not asking for what we want. If we can see it, we have it (or some semblance of the pure desire). If we worry, we make our troubles multiply and our arrow can’t reach the target.

The Moon is in Sagittarius. Keep hope alive. Keep the fire of your desire burning bright against the night. Maintain optimism to maintain energy and courage. Don’t look at that which is dead. Close your eyes and see life and delight.

Practicum

Close your eyes to what is finished. Turn your attention toward what you want to begin. Let the world’s noise fall away as you hold a new vision steady. What you focus on grows. Keep the fire of hope bright, and let your inner sight call the future into form.

The world is not ending. The world is beginning. And the beginning starts with where you are now and where you place your attention.
