I have been pondering the matter of confusing the spiritual quest with the gift quest where God fulfills dreams like a genie or a Santa. What is the spiritual quest really?
I sought to understand the essence of Jesus’ teaching—not as a religious figure, but as an avatar or archetype, so I asked my AI copilot expecting love to be part of the answer. But I did not quite expect this: “The essence of Jesus’ teaching was a radical call to love—love that transcends law, tribe, and even justice as we typically understand it. His message was deeply rooted in the Jewish tradition, yet it re-imagined that tradition through the lens of divine compassion and personal transformation… Jesus’ teachings weren’t just philosophical—they were embodied. He lived what he taught, even unto death. That’s part of what makes his message so enduring: it’s not just about ideas, but incarnation.”
It was the word radical that impressed me because I had been looking at the 5th house of a sign, which the Sun at 14 degrees emphasizes. To gain more insight about a sign, astrologers

create a chart placing that sign on the ascendant. In Libra, the second house is ruled by Scorpio. When we get to the 5th (a house ruling self expression, creativity, and idealistic love), it’s ruled by Aquarius a sign known to be revolutionary and independent. The word radical seems appropriate, and when you look at the idea of love transcending law or tribe, you understand how radical Love is truly. It just doesn’t seem like something we are willing to do to bridge political and social gaps.
Considering the fifth house is the house of creativity and self-expression, as well as creating the reality that you live in. Librans are people who, like some artists, are keen on aesthetics. This means that a person is attuned to, motivated by, or guided by a sensitivity to beauty, harmony, and sensory experience—whether in nature, art, design, or everyday life. I equate Aquarius on the 5th to represent The Fool in Tarot, the wild artist, free to innovate and free to be. The Fool, as Key 0 also represents freedom from limitation. “All we need is love,” the Beatles sang, but we humans find so many ways to avoid putting love into action and real use.
With the Moon in Aries, we might want excitement— to be inspired. To be independent and even to lead the way. I felt inspired to re-institute the Artist Date in my life. This is a process introduced by Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way. On an artist date, you take your inner child artist out to play so that you may “prime the pump” or stock the pond. That way you always have a store of fresh inspiration to draw from. The idea is weekly to do something fun (which does not have to be expensive.) One might visit a craft or hardware store for inspiration. Or go to a museum for visuals or a church for uplifting music and the energy of celebration. One might take an art class at a senior center. I understood that the Artist’s Date wasn’t suggested for me to just make art, but more for me to live an artful life. It was about lightening up, being playful and happy and about leveraging life via levity. “The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” –Carl Jung
Practicum
Take yourself on an artist’s date. Better still, Get the book, The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron and work through it, perhaps keeping in mind that this is a good practice for an artful life.
