Come from your heart. Make it real or just forget about it. I am paraphrasing the musician Santana here because this expresses the balance between inner and outer to me. I am increasingly convinced that the resolution of the outer drama that seems to be forced on us, unbidden and unwanted, is rooted in the internal world. There is no outer world. When we want to make a change for the better, we go within.
The Sun in Capricorn represents the “outer world.” Outer is an illusion. The Moon in Cancer represents the inner world, which is the fluid world of interior guidance. Under the Moon in Cancer, one must feel safe and secure within— nothing can blow your house down
“God. grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” —Serenity prayer
This idea is key because when we focus on externals, we tend to blame others, (including society, which we forget we are part of) and focus on getting the world to change. We cannot change the world if we are not part of it. Conversely, we can change the world that we are a part of. If we consider a problem to be external, we will not be able to do anything about it. We will not be able to fix it or right the wrong.
What we need is the courage to change the things that we can. I associate the word courage with Leo and creating one’s own reality. As Leo resides below the horizon in the natural chart, it is interior and personal. The Sun rules Leo. All our “moons” express a relationship to the Sun, the full moon being the Sun and Moon on opposite sides of the Zodiac. Our study and examination of the influence of the cycle, has to do with the courage to create our own reality and to change the things that we can. The Sun and Leo are associated with the heart, that which is core.
We must be aligned with our core to be in the world. We must be within. We must come from the heart. Otherwise, the enemy persists.
The Inner Self asks us to give our heart—to go to the center. We are asked to have the courage to love when it is difficult. However, do not love as a strategy to impose change. Love from stillness that knows not the time and hurries nothing. When we love in this manner, we are not troubled by time. “All the power that ever was or will be is here now," instructs The Pattern on the Trestleboard.* Now is all I ever have and now is synonymous with being present at the center. The world radiates from there, just as the Sun radiates from the heart of the Universe.
Practicum
Look around your dwelling. Identify something that bugs you. Large or small. Is the picture frame crooked? Has your dining room table erupted into a three-person office? Hate the couch? Determine to address what’s annoying. I once hated a loveseat with a mood-dampening neutral fabric that was stained. Draping a colorful mudcloth over it made me feel better and eventually, I replaced the loveseat.
