New Moon | May 16, 2026 | 25 Taurus 58’
It was the morning of this New Moon. I woke up early because this meditation had yet to be written. The light was so bright in the living room that I thought I had left a light on overnight. I had not, but the light was so bright and warm that I went to lift the blinds of my favorite window in the northeast corner of my living room. As I raised the blinds, the light catchers danced, splashing rainbows across the living room and dining room.
I’d been telling people that because my windows face north, I could not get the eastern or western sun that would play rainbows from the light catchers onto the walls. When my friend Jill and I met at my house for a creative project, the subject of light catchers came up, perhaps as the next creative project for our play. I showed her the few that I had.
“Put them in the window,” she suggested.
I had not done so because I thought they would not catch the sun in a way that made rainbows. But I knew they would reflect ambient light, and that would be plenty pretty. So, I put up the few I had and made enough to cover that entire northeast window. Catching the luminous light of day and evoking the serenity of stained glass gave me great pleasure.
When I woke up this morning, hoping I would have the inspiration for the New Moon, which had so far eluded me, I heard,
“In the form of earth, from the invisible first.”
I knew that the three planets and three asteroids in Aries referred to the invisible. Fire is considered the archetypal world of pure ideas that precede manifestation, where the desire to sit, for example, eventually becomes a chair.
I remember being taught that we ask as we live, by dint of pure desire, not necessarily words. The vibration of uncontradicted desire is read by the universe more than our words. Our vibrations and feelings—not our words—draw our desires from the invisible into the form of the manifest. That is why we might say the right words and still not manifest our desires. Doubt can cancel them out.

The planets in Aries are followed by three planets and one asteroid in the earth sign Taurus, a sign of manifestation. I realized that the universe had conspired to give me not only the pleasure and serenity of the colored beads, but also those flashing rainbows that delight me so much. Part of the design, I believe, was that I would need to get up earlier in order to write this New Moon offering.
Live. Play. Love. This is one formula for a happy life. Just be. Be bright. Be lively. Be loving. Be playful, and you shall have the desires of your heart. Mars, ruler of Aries, is in 29 Aries for the New Moon chart. It forms a harmonious aspect to Venus, ruler of Taurus, at 28 Gemini. This configuration gives us the opportunity to practice trusting that the universe is friendly to our uncontradicted desires.
Practicum
Sit quietly in the morning light and notice what brings you ease, beauty, and pleasure. Let desire arise without forcing it into words. Feel it clearly in your body, then offer one simple, loving action toward what you wish to bring into form.
