Let a New Earth Rise

New Moon | November 23, 2022 | 1 Sagittarius 38’
For my people standing staring trying to fashion a better way from confusion, from hypocrisy and misunderstanding, trying to fashion a world that will hold all the people, all the faces, all the adams and eves and their countless generations; Let a new earth rise. Let another world be born.” – —For My People, by Margaret Walker

Sagittarius, sign of religious practices, is a fire sign and so evokes candles, lanterns and light in the darkness saying, “Keep hope alive.” Sagittarius rules teachers and preachers and those committed to lighting paths and keeping others in the race.

Let a new earth rise. Declare it to be so. That’s what Sagittarius is for. What do you vow? What do you profess? What do you strive for? How keen is your passion?

Sagittarius is for uttering. Speak it into being. “Let there be.” In Gemini “I” think and talk. In Sagittarius, “we” think and talk. Spirit is at work in Sagittarius. Our aspirations for truth and rightness and mental expansion take form as higher mind which takes form as belief, as director of the “way,” philosophy, religion, and politics.

What do I believe I can have or be? What do I believe for my people? Who are my people? How lit is my candle of aspiration? How bright is the torch of example that I carry?

This is what I know for sure. Recent dips in my experience showed themselves to have been due to dips in my inner dialog. First are the thoughts. Then the experience.

Let’s say my thought is “Oh-oh. It’s not going so well.” That thought might be a reaction to appearances, a slowing down in income, for example. But “Oh-oh” was not the only possible reaction to have. I could have thought, “No matter. I do not live by bread alone, but by every word of the way I look at things. All the power that ever was or will be is here now, so I need to utter for the perfect realization. It’s all good. I have nothing to fear. I am not going to imagine the edge, the place at which I fall off, even if the abyss is open at my feet. I am not going to kick the open door closed with my own petulant, tantrum feet.”

Those dips come when the evidence of what I want but may not be getting is apparent. Only lack is apparent. Those dips dim expectations. I imagine more lack only. What I see is what I get. See lack, get lack. See something, get something, even if what I see is only possibility. Seeing possibility is something. It is better than “seeing” that I can’t win.

Sagittarius says, “Keep hope alive. Follow the light. Follow that star, no matter how far. I find relevance in this in that the four Sagittarius planets are in my fifth house where one creates one’s own life according to one’s heart and will.

Practicum

Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces. Jupiter is going direct, five minutes after the New Moon in one of the signs that it rules. Jupiter is in Pisces. Sagittarius squares Pisces, meaning that they are members of the same tribe (the changeable, malleable, learning, communicating, tribe) and must be right with each other in order to turn smoothly. Pisces asks Sagittarius, “How am I doing deep down inside? Do I see and follow and feel that light which is shining in the darkness? Am I Jupiterian—a person of excellence and optimism. Am I encouraged and encouraging? Do I believe in myself?”

Make a list of things you are grateful for. On a practical level, this cuts through all the whining and complaining that is so easy to do. I noticed in my early November travel between the west and east coasts, I found plenty of things to be critical of regarding the airlines. I found some praise-worthy things too. I say it is no accident that Thanksgiving occurs in our culture when the Sun is in the sign of Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius, a sign in which we can give thanks. The world goes better for the one who notices good.

Michael J. Fox, upon receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award closed his acceptance speech with, “My optimism is being fueled by my gratitude, and with gratitude, optimism is sustainable.” Perhaps you’ll add this quote to the bottom of your list.
