Full Moon | Lunar Eclipse | March 13, 2025 | 23 Virgo 57’
“Fatigue makes cowards of us all.” I first heard this quote by legendary coach Vincent Lombardi when I was still in high school. It must have been in the English class where I heard many proverbs for the first time. This quote taught me not to make decisions when I'm exhausted. When tired, the default answer might be No. I can’t. Or, I should (even if I don’t want to.) When I’m tired (physically or in spirit) and go to my head in an attempt to make a decision, I am disconnected. Rest will yield a more constructive answer.
Let’s relate fatigue to health in honor of the Lunar Eclipse Moon occurring in Virgo, the health-oriented sign. Exhaustion, weariness, weakness, lethargy, and low energy are signs of ill-health that might stem from a feeling that stems from an event that undermines your confidence. Some of us are weary indeed. A song we used to sing at civil rights rallies comes to mind: “Walk together children. Don’t get weary.”
The feet walk. Pisces rules the feet. The Sun is in Pisces conjoined with Saturn in Pisces. Walk together children. Walk together children, though times might be frightening. Imagine what it might be like for an older person who has lost their home, their neighborhood and their community and now feels in danger of losing Social Security. That has to be wildly stressful. “Y’all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here.” (in my M.C. Hammer voice). Let's have compassion for others' suffering, another function of Pisces.
The South Node, or dragon’s tail conjuncts the Moon at this Eclipse. The counsel is to not follow the wrong end as you travel this stretch in life. I know it is popular to say, “It’s okay to not feel okay.” I say, it's okay not to be okay only for a minute or an hour or a day, lest you fall into lethargy and lassitude, and maybe even depression. If fatigue makes cowards, cowards can be quitters, pessimists, fatalists. If we quit, then what?
North Node (dragon's head) in Pisces instructs us to reach for optimism. North Node in Pisces challenges us to lean in the direction of the visionary, who keeps their eyes on the prize. Without a vision, without hope, and without a belief in something good, the people perish.
If you only believe. If you “hold on when there is nothing in you except the will that says to you, ‘hold on’,” you can make it through the storm. The Tower (a tarot key), teaches that the function is to endure the storm and stress of awakening.
Sometimes in Pisces, you have to generate good feelings and images when what you see makes you want to despair. Jupiter, ruler of Pisces, doesn’t feel too great in Gemini, where it is now at 13 degrees. In meditation, it is easier to teach no thought than to teach pure positive thought. This is why people sometimes say “blah, blah, blah” at affirmations. If you don’t feel the thought, you can’t receive help from the thought.
My favorite thought for feeling better is, “Everything is always working out for me.” Or “No matter the situation, the world is moving forward.” These are message of hope. Once you’ve seen it work in your life, it can give you sunshine on a cloudy day.
Practicum
Raise your vibration with some uplifting thought that might overcome your pessimism. Give yourself something you can feel that lifts you up, like strong uplifting music. When Thomas A. Dorsey lost his wife and son in childbirth, he wrote the song, “Precious Lord. Take my hand. Lead me on. Help me stand. I am tired. I am weak. I am worn. Through the storm, through the night. Lead me on to the light. Take my hand, precious Lord.” You can always play to get your mind off disturbing thoughts. Make something. Write some poetry or a song.
