Above Squabbling and Scratching

New Moon | April 11, 2021 | 22 Aries 25’

Look. And when you open your eyes and direct your gaze above the level of squabbling and scratching, you shall see greater possibilities. The eyes are the windows of the soul and light shines out from within.

“Let Me see,” the One Life exhorts in the Book of Tokens Meditation on The Emperor (Aries).

Think of yourself as looking out from the eyes of Source. Anticipate the future optimistically with love in your eyes. Take the lead on good will. See yourself as able to think what you want to think and see that thought as effective as you set yourself up for success. When I hit a snag, I say “Things are always working out for me,” to re-frame my mental processes from frustration to solution. Frustration closes the door that poise and possibility open. Even if at first it seems like lip service, tell yourself “I do nothing of myself. The power within me does the work. All I have to do is point my attention at my intentions.” Instead of giving into feelings of being thwarted, decide to see what you want to see. Throw the hail Mary as you visualize yourself completing the pass and celebrating it.

Aries connects with the sense of sight by which we mean “vision, inspection, reconnaissance, watchfulness, care, vigilance, examination, calculation, analysis, induction, inquiry, investigation, and the like.” (The Tarot, by Paul Foster Case.)

Your eyes observe nature and manifestation. The eyes do not just look, they permit imagination. Reason and Imagination work together both to determine the present and to bring about desired outcomes.

Mars, planet of action, assertion, aggression and work, rules Aries and is active in this chart. It trines Jupiter, making it easier to think expectantly. Mars in Gemini, active mind, works well with the Sun Moon and Venus as loving initiative stemming from a loving self who acts in a peace-seeking manner. Assume that the universe is friendly toward your plans and ready to assist you to have and do what you want.

This will help mitigate two of Mars’ tougher aspects, an inconjunct to Pluto which asks you to adjust your use of and deferment to, force (coercion or compulsion) and a square to Neptune which might not dare to dream and which, frustrated by the inability to use force, might think that there is no other way. Mars also opposes the asteroid Juno in Sagittarius where you might not want to be cooperative or to grant others the same freedom you seek for yourself.

Aries rules the head and face. Aries also rules the sense of sight. For Aries you can say, I am. I see. Aries rising in the natural zodiac shows us that the ascendant Is the point of view, or the place of viewing. Aries and the ascendant are lookout posts. You need height to get the best perspective and the eyes are the highest sense organ in the human anatomy.

Sun, Moon and Venus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. This is where you have to reconcile your individuality and self-initiative with outer authority, real or imagined. You might have to get out of your own way by not observing roadblocks that are self-constructed; or arguing for your limitations by saying or thinking that you can’t. As Henry Ford says, “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.

PRACTICUM

In my LEAP* class (a supplement to The Artist’s Way, brainchild of Julia Cameron) we are encouraged to try something we are pretty sure we will fail at. Think no one will accept your manuscript? Send it out anyway. Think you can’t sing in public, take the stage at a karaoke party. Sometimes when you are sure you will fail, you succeed, or at the very least, you will find that failure is survivable and just might be a jumping off place for learning.
