You Better Sing, Baby

New Moon | Lunar Eclipse | November 19, 2021 | 27 Taurus 14’

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom.

(From "Caged Bird," Maya Angelou)

In the early phases of evolution, it appears that an external actor has caged the bird and clipped its wings, however not its heart, its sound, nor its song. For those of us who practice becoming more conscious and taking our own growth in hand, we come to see that we may have volunteered our captivity, perhaps in hopes of something in exchange, and that we can free ourselves from our confines, and take to the air, above the madding crowd, above the crazies and the squabbles, and arguing for your limitations, risen by the phoenix.

When the bird sings, it is living beyond the confines of the cage. Have you, I, we, put ourselves in a cage or a category or a class that is based, not on our dreams, but on our lack of imagination that we might move on? This is the way it is. This is what I or we have inherited. Can’t go there, can’t have that, we might be thinking, or being without thinking. We might be under the assumption that we are in our place.

This Moon in Taurus is conjunct the North Node in Gemini and gives a hint about the role of the mind in our scenario. Choose your thoughts. Thoughts are things that set you up or hold you back. You make the pivot with the Moon connected to the North Node part of the story. The North Node is the Dragon’s Head and the South Node is the Dragon’s Tail. The Tail always follows the head. Going with this Gemini North Node means mindfulness, presence, being here now, enjoying that which is at hand. Now is the maker of the future, but not by being off into the future, though tempted by the Sun and Moon both being square Jupiter, to do so. Jupiter is growth and expansion and socially it weighs you on a scale. We see being more as being somebody. As Martin Luther King said, “You may be unemployed, but you are somebody. The North Node in Gemini conjunct Taurus suggests, think your thoughts, but sing yourself free.

Be here now. Stop being so dissatisfied. They seem to go arm in arm. Seems that you really do your future by being here, with it, even if it has failings and shortcomings. Whining and crying seems to be a little small and spoiled. Whining and crying makes it all someone else’s fault and therefore someone else’s move.

Scorpio in your chart represents time to do an emotional purge of your own bitter bile, or cleanse with an eye toward making yourself fit company, not by way of conformance, but by way of being psychologically healthy so that you are not a blocked, bitter, and blind person visiting tantrums, tirades, or tyrannical moods upon others or yourself.

It may be that wherever the Sun in Scorpio is visiting in your chart, you have found yourself in rotten or decaying conditions. Perhaps you are living in a situation which is a dead zone, not life-giving. You have to do some pruning, or maybe you find yourself pruned, cut off or cut out.
