You are Good

“An inferiority complex is a superiority complex turned in on itself.” This idea surprised me when I first heard it many years ago, however, I knew it was true in my being. I submit that we all have superiority complexes of one sort or another. By complex, I don’t mean clinical or certifiable. I mean the culture of good, better, best—the conditioning that you must work hard and make us proud. You must be perfect and high achieving. With this complex, we miss the mark daily several times a day.
No successful person wants to be a one-hit wonder, so, even those who have just won and are high achieving and high performing can be anxious about what they are going to be doing for an encore. They fret: “What if I am not first or liked anymore?”
I think that we alternate between inferiority and superiority and it is quite likely that with a Virgo chart tone, we are amped up in critical nature. If you can be critical without turning up your nose, you’re doing fine. When you apply love-energy to the thing that needs fixing or tweaking, it will respond better, and you will feel better and think clearer (Sun conjunct Venus). Virgo sweats the small stuff and is in danger of focusing on the flaws, even if they are minor. With Pisces mirroring Virgo, we are likely to feel that we are not measuring up and that our flaws are too numerous. This can put us in the inferiority complex phase where we feel inadequate, and shy of good enough. We see others doing better and imagine that they are judging us.
Four planets in Virgo reflect a need for perfection and assimilation in form. When many planets are in Virgo, we can become nervous and worried and might accentuate the negative. Something happened with my computer while I was writing this that required a restart and I noticed myself hoping that it wouldn’t be bad which I switched to anticipating that it would be fine, and it was. That subtle switch meant that my energy was better while I waited for the reboot and that I had one more practice of good expectations.
Sun and Mars oppose and are reflected by Moon and Neptune. Moon conjunct Neptune is extra-vulnerable because Neptune is mysterious and indefinite. You can dream without boundaries. Sun Mars can be angry and it can be energized. If Sun-Mars is angry, chances are, although it might lash out, it is angry with self. The Sun is your sense of purpose, the point of your life, and the Sun in Virgo carries a light, but is not trying to be the light. In other words, in Leo you might have felt pumped, but in Virgo, quiet, and that quiet can translate into disquiet about one’s ability or technique or ducks in a row.
If you are strong in your virgin sense of self, in your pure motives that aren’t trying to please others or even yourself, this does not apply to you. The Moon in Pisces reflects emotional contentment and vulnerability in being open and ready to be opened, impressed and multiplied.
“Be present as the watcher of your mind — of your thoughts and emotions as well as your reactions in various situations. Be at least as interested in your reactions as in the situation or person that causes you to react. Notice also how often your attention is in the past or future. Don’t judge or analyze what you observe. Watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction.” – Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
A tangible way to watch is to write. Put your thoughts in a notebook or journal. This can also assist the quieting of the mind, because writing is like hearing. Sketching, painting, and other art forms are also like hearing. Your pick.
