We fight about our philosophical differences with the Sun conjunct Mars, the planet ruling conflict and strife. This is a war of words that cannot be proved or disproved. There may be vigorous defenses of opposing beliefs that keep people separate.
The wise among us focus on a meeting place. “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other doesn't make any sense.” (Rumi) That field is here, now. If we focus on communicating—the respectful exchange of ideas without ego attachment, we might hear and be heard in return. If we put more emphasis on hearing than on being heard, we would probably move closer to peace and understanding. After all, we are all diverse parts of a singular, wondrous whole.
The Sun is in fiery, zealous, preachy Sagittarius. Fire is urgent and forceful. Sun combined with Mars makes us more willing to go to bat for our ideas. Sagittarius is governed by Jupiter, the urge for more and better. The arrow representing Sagittarius is always in flight. Perhaps this is symbolic of enjoying the journey. It could also represent that we are always travelling and that the journey is in the mind. What ideas are you willing to reach for? Something you are considering may be ready to advance toward verification. In the meantime, live in the grace represented by Jupiter.
Full Moons represent the two sides of one pole. Sagittarius is the ideas that the words of Gemini try to convey.
Recently movement songs have been coming to my attention. “Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me ‘round, I’m gonna keep on talking, keep on walking, marching up to freedom land.
I also hear “I am woman, hear me roar,” from the women’s movement. Movement songs are sung at gatherings, at rallies and at protests. I realize that these songs were for both personal and collective strength and resolve. The person who feels like they are less, must begin to feel like they are more and that they are deserving.
Time is prime for the wounded to rise and unite that they might heal, and their situation might heal. I realized that we must then take care to not so identify with our wounds that we never heal. Eckhart Tolle cautions against making an identity out of your pain. I don’t always want to lead with my wounds. Instead of “See me, I am wounded,” it is “See me, I am healed or healing.” Healing is something I must personally allow myself to do. I must look on the bright side. I must keep my mind stayed on freedom.
Practicum
Perhaps we don’t need to fight the ideas of others. Perhaps we need to be convinced of our virtue and deservedness. Make an Attitude Journal. See your virtues and determine to be bold and strong and determined to overcome your own shy view of yourself. Develop a strong posture, mind and feeling. Encourage yourself. Note the ways in which you are brave.
