We think of Imagination as make believe and pretend. We think this makes imagination flawed, weak, and tricky. We don’t trust it. Imagination is folly. It has no place among mature intelligent people when it comes to living real life. But my thesaurus says imagination is “the mind’s eye,” and refers to mind, head, and thoughts as synonyms.
“Does he love me, I wanna know” goes the lyric to “It’s in His Kiss.” The question is in the mind. No matter what he says or does, the mind is going to determine how it is and how it goes. Let’s say he says, “Baby, I love you.” Do you flip for joy or do you narrow your eyes and say, “yeah, right.” Imagination is in charge and it can be working with sagacity and skill, or it can be courting folly. At any rate, imagination goes on as a mental process. Hence Libra is an air sign, because air is associated with intellect, thinking, and thoughts.
To pretend is to “act as if.” Sometimes we act as if failure is imminent or rejection is to be expected. We act as if there is no financial support for us. We act as if the future is dismal and not bright.
Imagination (Libra) follows thinking/analyzing/worrying (Virgo) and is followed by acting (Scorpio). Imagination is the province of Venus. Venus rules Libra, the sign of the Sun and Moon for this New Moon. Libra rules relationship and relatedness. Therefore Imagination rules relationships.
Note that Venus rules not only personal relationships, but all relationships. Venus rules the principle of attraction. It is magnetic in its operation. Wallace Wattles wrote that negative thoughts repel good away from you and positive thoughts bring good to you.
Imagine waking up in the morning with beautiful potential hanging around your bed like a canopy and you dismissing it with thoughts such as, “I am powerless without money.” “Everybody is against me.” “It’s hard.” “ The economy is to blame for my lack.”
What are you going to do after you have thought those thoughts? You are going to be downcast. The prize will not be in sight, and so will not be pursued. Good ideas will find no “in” to your mind. A person who might have reached out to you changes their mind. Your name gets shuffled to the bottom of the pile or gets overlooked.
Note that the glyph for Mercury (intellect) is Venus crowned by the
crescent Moon. The neutral androgynous Mercury is composed of two feminine energies. Imagination is crowned by memory. Mind is Imagination led by memory. Memory is how you label experience, not just what happens. Labeling, naming is under the auspices of Mercury.
Venus in Libra is conjunct Saturn in Libra for this New Moon. Saturn is said to be exalted, to reach its highest potential in Libra. Saturn has to do with being disciplined and focused. Discipline and focus reaches its highest potential when we exercise mastery over imagination, especially when it comes to what we imagine about others.
I remember I wanted to have a conversation with someone and resisted doing so because I thought she would be hurt by what I had to say and would reject my ideas. Luckily I caught myself and said. Why don’t I imagine her being receptive to my ideas? Why don’t I imagine a good response? That is exactly what happened. I found the person open, friendly, and actually grateful.
This counsel is not for the purpose of controlling another’s thoughts. This was more about controlling my own thoughts and expectations. Once I was able to entertain a more favorable outcome, I was able to express my thoughts courageously.
We are always imagining our lives. Some of us are deft or natural and our eyes stay more or less on the prize and we think along harmonious lines and things tend to work out. Others of us are nervous, cranky, stinky, neurotic, paranoid, and irrational. We keep on imagining the worse, being suspicious of compliments. If we are cranky creators, then we are not nice to the people we imagine don’t think well of us. Or we suck up to them trying to change their minds when our own mind needs changing. We miss the mark when we are snide, distrustful, and hurtful. We assume by our habit of thinking that the other deserves our disdain and therefore think we are justifiably defensive.
The Lunations process is to follow the light of the Sun and the reflections of the Moon, gathering clues about who we are and how we may become more of ourselves and achieve more of our goals. It is akin to following the yellow brick road. The Light is shining wherever you have Libra.
We have an opportunity to take a look at how we are imagining our relationships and taking charge of looking at pleasing possibilities, for the people in our lives, for the esteem in which we regard ourselves and for the money we attract.
A healthy mantra would be, “I am all about the stable steady, sturdy, enduring relationship, depending not on others and their judgments, but depending on myself. Bring on the serious cash as I am long overdue and justly deserving. I have no worries or fears about retirement. I expect to live comfortably and happily as I mature. I expect Social Security to remain intact and viable. My love life is or becomes solid as a rock.
On a clear day you can rise and look around you and see who you are. On a clear day your mind is lucid and you imagine good things for yourself and you imagine that others are favorably disposed to you. Therefore you smile and your guard is at ease. You are able to be pleasant and expectant that things won’t be that hard and that you will have what you need, including harmony in relationships, even in those that have run their course.
