You might write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies/You might ground me down in the very dirt/But still like the dust, I rise. —Maya Angelou
If I were perfect, active, and disciplined, I could meet someone who satisfies my soul. He (or she) would take me in across a crowded room captivated by my curves or my cut. But I’m too fat or thin, lacking in focus, weak in determination. I am not a catch right now, so I wait, or I surrender to the reality that I have lost my appeal (or never had it). This is how the inner dialog goes and you may or may not be conscious of these thoughts, this script for your self-determined future.
Look at yourself with your God eyes. Your talents may be hidden. Your brilliance might lie quietly in the shadows of the dawn’s early light.
Still. You rise.
Fire the critic who marks you down, who goes to bed angsting about bad things surely coming and wakes up thinking about what is wrong and could go wrong today. Most likely, that critic is you. Dismiss yourself from the job. If you do not have anything positive to say, be silent or better, say, “She maketh me to lie down in green pastures. She leadeth me beside the still waters. She restoreth my soul. Surely goodness and kindess will follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in Her house forever.”
“The treasure thou journeyth afar to find in the jewel of eternity in thy heart of hearts.” (The Book of Tokens: Tarot Meditations) You do not need another to complete you. The new job won’t complete you. Neither will the money to pay that bill. You need to be Virgin like Virgo, complete in yourself and not for any particular reason. To live is to extend the center, the dot, the one. This means that to live and love is to move away from center, to go in and out and up and down, and experience good and not so good.
Take the nod and the victory and the answer to your prayers when it comes. Rejoice in it. Revel in it, savor it. But every victory is a temporary rest, a pause. Ultimately it is also a jump-off point. You will have to begin again. To know that is to know security. Security is in the dance of life, the vile bitter and the lovely sweet. You have to be the one who knows that you have worth.
We all need want, and deserve to have our worth mirrored in someone else' gaze, treatment or compliment. But we are more likely to receive it and believe it if we are good in our own eyes. And here, too, we must be fluid. Today’s A+ is good, but tomorrow’s A+ begins immediately thereafter as today’s work.
Pisces opposite Virgo highlights the need to couple the ethereal and intangible with the practical. Pisces and Virgo need each other. It is necessary to dream the seemingly impossible dream. The intent of life is not to just maintain, but to extend and expand.
We need to take seriously our ability to act creatively upon our dreams. Default thinking is waiting for something to happen and hoping for the best. Creative thinking is choosing what we want, looking at what we want in our mind’s eye, and going for it.
Our friends help to make connections for us and encourage us to keep our dreams alive. They might back us financially or with solid support and encouragement. Families are helpful too; while significant others challenge us and sometimes seemingly oppose us. Their challenge to us can be helpful in the long run if it spurs us to put our money where our dreams are. The support comes when we take the action to work for our vision with seriousness and diligence.
Do not wait for everything to be perfect. Create as you go along. Move a few steps. Then you will get the clues for the next steps and you will see how to make modifications and adjustments.
