New Moon
September 8, 2010
15 Virgo 41’
Now is the time to take yourself seriously and to make sure that your personal sensibilities and aesthetics are present and accounted for. It is time to design a life that suits you and to please yourself. This will often go hand in hand with designing a work or service that suits you. There is only one of you and many others.
This inherent condition means that the message you often get is to not be selfish: to not think of yourself first, but to think of the needs of your spouse, children, company, and your friends. This is especially true for this New Moon that has three planets in the sign Libra, the sign of relationship. We don’t want to find ourselves alone, so we may have developed what Oprah calls, “the disease to please” where other people’s needs supplant your own. Virgo is a mutable, accommodating sign that is able to change and mold itself to fit and to serve. But if the integrity of the self is not protected and preserved, one becomes fragmented, fractured, flighty, and ultimately useless.
If you are going to serve others, you have to bring your best self to the table and if you are not your true self, then you are not your best self. You must be like the Virgin who is on-in-herself, who does what she does not to be liked or to please others—even herself. She does what she does because it is true. You must carry your own light and be true to that light.
Sometimes we get pressure from others in the form of their criticism, displeasure, or potential displeasure. It takes emotional strength and resiliency to withstand their icy cold or extremely hot blasts. So the Libra planets may make you compromise to keep the outer peace at the expense of the peace of your soul and potentially at the expense of your health and integrity. You feel fractured and not whole. Sometimes in the course of being true to yourself you feel isolated from others. They may belittle or denigrate your stance. Who do you think you are? Do you think you are better?
You are not trying to be better than anyone, you are just trying to be your personal best. And sometimes the fire breathing of another is actually an internal test. Withstand that fire and be a better you. You may be tempted to give in to that fire and be tempted to blame others for making it difficult for you to take a stand and walk the walk that you see fit. But you will pay a price for that. You will give your power away and giving your power away affects your vital force negatively. You will fail to reap the benefit of becoming stronger or getting to utilize your own unique gifts and talents.
Do what you love. This turns you on instead of off. Consider the possibilities. Entertain that which makes you smile instead of that which is familiar. Use your imagination to break your bounds. Imagine yourself on the other side of your troubles. Sing with Nina, “I wish I knew how it would feel to be free. I wish I could break all these chains holding me.”
Change the lyrics:
I’m sure I know how it feels to be free. I’m sure I can break all the chains holding me.
Know that you can do it when you’ve got yourself together and are not fractured and fearful. You are not alone. You are all one. You look to the hills from which your help comes. You go to the hills to get an overview, to see how it is when you are not crowded by the demands and shortsightedness of others or yourself.
Mercury, the ruling planet of Virgo is still retrograde. Wait if you must, but don’t give up. Don’t regress. If things are not straightforward, consider that you may need to reconsider. The purpose of a closed door is not to frustrate you, but to steer you in the right direction.
Follow your gut and your instincts. The answers are in the fabric and fiber of your own being. Ask for help from your higher self. Let your faith and fortitude be increased. Trust yourself. Be a beautiful dreamer. Note how good it makes you feel to consider that the universe will come to your aid to bring about that which you name and claim.
