Life is what you make it, but you can’t make it. You can’t force it to do your will. Just be and do your best, faithful that the return shall come. In the creative mind, your actions and efforts signify your confirmation and cooperation. The universe is already saying yes. Your actions and efforts are your agreement. By agreement, you make it so. By agreement you get into the flow, and when it is time, you will see your return and your reward.
Act as if it all depends on you—as if what you think, say, and do matters. It does depend on you, however, the unfolding is not in your hands. Put your shoulders to the wheel and your hands on the plow, but know you are the instrument, the channel through which something will come according to natural rhythms. Put everything into it and do it now. The first action is often a decision. Make up your mind. Making up your mind is like turning the key in the ignition. It gets you moving. What to do comes to mind and you do it, and the next thing and the next consistent thing.
Thought is the only power which can produce tangible riches from the formless substance. The stuff from which all things are made is a substance which thinks, and a thought of form in this substance produces the form. Original substance moves according to its thoughts; every form and process you see in nature is the visible expression of a thought in original substance. As the formless stuff thinks of a form, it takes that form; as it thinks of a motion, it makes that motion. —Wallace Wattles, www.scienceofgettingrich.net
Wally also speaks of the necessity of rising above the competitive to the creative mind. The competitive mind refers to Mars and the creative mind to Venus. In the system of rising through the chakras, the Mars center is situated slightly below the navel and the Venus center is at the throat. This suggests that there is in fact a rising from Mars to Venus. This brings us to the opposition of the Sun to the Moon, which is the definition of a Full Moon. The Sun is in Venus-ruled Libra. The scales and the principle of balance represent Libra. Libra would represent peace compared to Mars’ representation of war.
Awhile back, when transiting Mars aspected my natal Sun and Mars I found myself thinking a lot about the role of Mars in our lives. A friend and I were both recently reflecting on our feminist days in the early 70’s. We both affirmed that we were sooo angry, conveying that some of what we thought, said and did at the time was induced by this anger. Mars in Cancer can be angry women and it can be fighting women. It can be destructive emotions or constructive emotions.
This reminded me that if I am not careful and vigilant, I could tend to live angry automatically. There can be this underlying irritation that troubles the waters and sours the disposition. It can seem a necessary vigilance against the enemy of the day. Then I don’t realize that my peace and health are being undermined. Stewing on what I don’t like pushes away what I would like. Troubled waters and sour disposition can only attract trouble and bitterness. It is not attractive.
For example, I am sitting in the middle a problematic situation. It doesn’t feel right, fair, just, or good. Injustice can be called a deficiency of the balance and harmony of Libra. This implies an over-abundance of powerful Aries. I argue with the other people in my mind. Intuition says, “Do you think that you are going to be able to get your point across and change minds and hearts with a frown on your face and accusation on your lips? Can you try not to be so irritated so that there won’t be resistance, defensiveness, plugging up the ears and walling off the heart?” I realize that as long as I think in an angry frame I cannot speak or act in a frame that will build bridges, connections, and joint resolution. What if I spoke and inspired instead of speaking and inciting?
I have also been remembering my now departed mother repeatedly telling me repeatedly me as I grew up, “You can get more with sugar than you can salt.” It usually pissed me off when she said it, because in my mind it was she who made me salty in the first place.
Nevertheless, it’s true. But the sugar is not to persuade the other:
You do not have to use your will power to conquer an unfriendly Deity, or to make stubborn and rebellious forces do your bidding. Substance is friendly to you, and is more anxious to give you what you want than you are to get it.
To get rich, you need only to use your will power upon yourself.
When you know what to think and do, then you must use your will to compel yourself to think and do the right things.
That is the legitimate use of the will in getting what you want – to use it in holding yourself to the right course.—Wallace Wattles

I love your writings, it’s always good advice. Thank you. Love & Light, Ayesha
“I realize that as long as I think in an angry frame I cannot speak or act in a frame that will build bridges, connections, and joint resolution. What if I spoke and inspired instead of speaking and inciting?”
This is so powerful. Thank you for taking this subject on!
Thank you Ayesha and Deborah. Thank you Deborah for picking out such an important sentence.
