Astrologers say that Leo rules the personal will, however I am persuaded that this is not quite right. I may feel will moving powerfully through me when I experience Leo, but this will is not a personal possession. Rather, it is will-ingness. It is voluntary submission of what feels like personal volition to express or bestow the will of God to good. It is setting about doing a higher will, bravely, one-pointedly and persevering.
Those readers who are familiar with Tarot symbolism will recognize the plausibility of my assertion that Leo is submission. In Tarot Key 8, the woman submits her activity to that which is above her and uses that highest intelligence to calmly, not willfully or forcefully, prevails over the beast.
Life is literally wheels within wheels. The wheel of your birth map is placed within the wheel of February 1, 2007, and we may begin to discern where you are and where you are going. The 12 spokes of our wheel define 12 houses or areas of life, and Leo always follows Cancer, fire follows water, “I will” flows from “I feel.” To feel is to experience and empathize. Will needs to follow empathy or else you get truth without good, as Maurice Nicoll says in his book The New Man:
“To act from compassion, to act from mercy, is to act from Good itself and not from any idea of reward. Truth alone has nothing to do with compassion, nothing to do with mercy. The most merciless and atrocious acts have been done in the name of Truth. For Truth divorced from Good has nothing to check it, nothing to unite with it and give it any real being.”
Another meaning of Cancer is Receptivity/Will, where your complete drive is derived as an influx from above that you do not resist. Nor do you bank it, curb it, or stray from it— not even for a second, because you realize that your life is the life of a Great Intelligence that caused the union of the egg and the sperm and the splitting of one cell into 2, 2 into 4, 4 into 8 and so on until there was you, a marvel and a wonder.
Around you are people. These people influence you, help you, further you, and sometimes, seem to hinder you. It’s all in the game. Are you willing to play the game fairly? Are you willing to play at all? Are you willing to participate? To engage?
Are you willing to put your impatient, angry, stuck, and misinformed self aside so that you can hear the direction of the Self who’s got your back, and also has the back of the one you are competing with and know how you need each other and for how long? (Until you can see Eye-to-Eye and make something better than that piece that each of you thought you were fighting for.)
All things are possible if you believe. You are so great. She and He who are in you are so much bigger than the world of fitful existence that you might be living.
Stop for a minute. Cease from wandering and searching and striving. Check in with your Higher Self. Say, “Higher Self, I’m checking in. Higher Self, I’m listening. Have you a word or a sign for me that will show forth your glory to my partially blind eyes? Have you a touch for my soul? Do you have something for my hunger, something for my fever, something for my despair? I’m listening. Teach me in my own special way. Nurture me up close. Be beside me. Guide me. Let me look calmly at the thing I fear. Let me bravely step on up close to it and see it dissolve from an obstacle to a gift, from a rock to a gem, from ignorance to bliss. Let it be.”
We all have to anchor ourselves in intuition, the Inner Teacher. She or He who nails it. You listen for inner instruction. You quiet the mind and you listen. Your eye is on the prize. Your eye, your sign, your vision, your plan, is not your plan, although you are the “chief cook and bottle washer.” You are responsible. You are able to respond to the instruction of your inner voice as a result of one-pointed attention to the eye of providence represented by the eye on top of the pyramid which sits on the back of the dollar bill. Centered over the word “one” is “In God We Trust.” God, y’all, not the dollar. You go trusting in the dollar and you get a legion of trouble and “justifiable” homicide, at war across the world, or with your neighbor, or with the people of your own household.
In astrology, Taurus is that sign that has to do with money and other forms of self-possession and self-esteem. In Tarot, Taurus is assigned to the Inner Teacher who links human hearts via intuition, inner instruction.
I submit to you that you must have everlasting access to your inner voice to the point that you trust it to guide you moment by moment through your emotional ups and downs, as well as through society’s ups and downs. If you can hear the One and I can hear the One, then we can agree straightaway and solve problems directly.
